With a little more than eight minutes remaining in the second quarter and the Heat leading 33-27, Pacers forward Sam Young was way long on a jumper from the left corner. Heat forward Chris Bosh corralled the rebound and pushed the ball ahead to Cole, who tossed up a lob from well behind the three-point line to a streaking James, who was calling for the alley-oop all the way.
The 2013 MVP caught the pass with both hands and smoothly dropped in the slam in one motion, ducking his head so as to avoid hitting it on the rim.
James finished with a game-high 32 points (on 8-for-17 shooting), eight rebounds and four assists in 41 minutes. With the win, Miami advances to face San Antonio in the 2013 NBA Finals, where James, whose Cavaliers lost to the Spurs in the 2007 Finals, will get a crack at revenge. Game 1 is set for Thursday.
