The Kings have agreed to hire Nuggets executive Pete D'Alessandro as their next GM, according to multiple reports.

Yahoo! Sports and CBSSports.com report that D'Alessandro, who served as vice president of basketball operations under Masai Ujiri in Denver, will replace Geoff Petrie, who had been with the Kings since 1994.

The reported agreement marks the second major move for the Kings under new owner Vivek Ranadive, who recently purchased the Kings from the Maloof family. Ranadive, a former Warriors minority owner and the chairman of TIBCO, hired Warriors assistant coach Michael Malone to replace Keith Smart as head coach earlier this month.

Before joining the Nuggets in 2010, D'Alessandro worked for the Warriors from 2004-2008, serving as director of basketball operations and assistant GM. His career has also included time working in politics and as a sports agent.

Former Pacers executives Larry Bird and David Morway, former Clippers executive Mike Dunleavy, former Warriors executive Chris Mullin, Grizzlies executive Chris Wallace and TNT commentator Kenny Smith were among the names linked to the open Kings GM position in recent reports by USA Today Sports and CBSSports.com.

The exodus out of Denver continues. Already this summer, the Nuggets fired coach George Karl, the 2013 Coach of the Year, and allowed Ujiri, the 2013 Executive of the Year, to leave for the Raptors.

Denver went 57-25 in 2012-13, earning the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, but lost to Golden State in the first round of the playoffs.

Sacramento went 28-54 and missed the playoffs for the seventh straight season.
