The Warriors announced Friday the signing of free-agent guard Seth Curry, the younger brother of Golden State star Stephen Curry.

WarriorsWorld.com first reported that Seth Curry would sign with the Warriors. The Contra Costa Times reported Friday that the former Duke guard will take a non-guaranteed training camp contract rather than signing with Barcelona of Spain's ACB league.

Seth Curry, 23, earned First Team All-ACC honors last season but was not selected in this year's draft. His route to the NBA has been a long one, as he spent one year at Liberty before transferring to Duke, which required him to sit for a season. He went on to play three seasons for the Blue Devils, averaging 17.5 points while shooting 46.5 percent overall and 43.8 percent from deep. In April, he underwent surgery on his right lower leg that sidelined him throughout the pre-draft process.

The Warriors currently have 12 guaranteed contracts for next season plus Kent Bazemore, whose deal is partially-guaranteed. leaving two open roster spots entering camp. The good news: Golden State is roughly $5 million below the luxury tax line and can fill out their open roster spots by adding minimum contracts without additional penalty if they so choose. The bad news: There aren't many minutes in the backcourt available, as last year's starters, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, both averaged 35+ minutes per night while 2013 first-round pick Nemanja Nedovic, free-agent acquisition Toney Douglas and Bazemore provide depth off the bench.

Nevertheless, Golden State clearly doesn't believe that there's such a thing as too many shooters. The Warriors led the NBA by shooting 40.3 percent from deep last season and Curry ranks third on Duke's all-time three-point percentage list.

Stephen Curry, 25, averaged a career-high 22.9 points and 6.9 assists while shooting 45.3 percent from deep last season. He helped lead the Warriors to their first playoff series victory since 2007.

Former NBA player Dell Curry is father to both Stephen and Seth. Dell Curry retired in 2002 after a 17-season career in which he averaged 11.7 points and shot 40.2 percent from deep.
