Knicks' Tyson Chandler (leg) forced from game against Bobcats, undergoes X-ray

Knicks center Tyson Chandler was forced from a Tuesday night game against the Bobcats after he suffered a right leg injury.

The 13-year veteran underwent an X-ray examination, which was inconclusive, and he will be re-evaluated after he undergoes further testing on Wednesday.

With a little more than five minutes remaining in the first quarter and Charlotte leading 16-15, Chandler stepped across the paint to provide help defense on a Kemba Walker drive. Replays appeared to show Walker's right knee banging into the side of Chandler's right knee, and both players went to the court in pain.

Chandler departed with two points (on 1-for-1 shooting) and two rebounds in seven minutes.

Losing Chandler for any meaningful stretch would be a tough blow for the Knicks, whose lineup options were already cloudy. One arrangement could include a starting frontline of Andrea Bargnani, Kenyon Martin and Carmelo Anthony; another configuration could include Bargnani or Martin, Anthony and Metta World Peace. Cole Aldrich, who has yet to play in a game this season, is the only other true center on the Knicks' roster.

This is at least the third time in roughly a year that Chandler has banged knees: he suffered a bone bruise in his left knee during the 2012 preseason and he bruised his left knee in March.

Chandler, 31, was the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year in 2012 and an All-Star in 2013.
