The Wizards announced Monday that forward Al Harrington will be sidelined for at least four weeks after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

The Washington Post notes that Harrington has been sidelined for nearly a month with knee soreness and that he recently suffered a "setback." Harrington is now expected to miss Washington's next 12 games before he is re-evaluated.

Officially, Harrington underwent a "diagnostic arthroscopy and lavage procedure" that "cleaned out loose particles" in his right knee. The 33-year-old forward underwent surgery on the same knee in 2012, and he's played just 17 games combined over the last two seasons.

Harrington has averaged 7.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in seven games for Washington, which signed him to a minimum-salary contract last summer after he was released by the Magic.

Coach Randy Wittman will continue to take a by-committee approach to his rotation, giving minutes to forwards Chris Singleton, Jan Vesely and Trevor Booker. Rookie small forward Otto Porter, the No. 3 pick in the 2013 draft, made his debut last Friday after missing the opening month of the season with a hip injury, and his return comes at a good time because Martell Webster recently sprained his ankle.

The Wizards entered Monday's play with a 9-10 record.
