Hawks' Twitter account mocks Cowboys' Tony Romo for interceptions

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is a regular target of Twitter abuse, especially after he throws interceptions, but now he's dodging social media tomatoes from one of the NBA's official team accounts.

After two Romo interceptions in the last three minutes proved crucial in a 37-36 Cowboys loss to the Packers on Sunday, the Atlanta Hawks' official Twitter account let off a zinger.

"If Tony Romo needs advice in late-game situations, we know a guy he can call," the Hawks tweeted, along with a photograph of Al Horford.

Low blow? Perhaps, but at least it was factually correct. Horford knocked down a buzzer-beating game-winner in overtime to help the Hawks beat the Wizards on Friday, and he's among the league leaders in clutch shooting this season.

According to NBA.com/stats, Horford is 13-for-23 (56.5 percent) in clutch situations this season, defined by the last five minutes of regulation (and overtime) in which either team leads by five points or less. Horford's 56.5 percent clip trails only Spurs guard Tony Parker (15-for-23, 65.2 percent) among players with at least 20 field goal attempts in the clutch so far this season.

Even with the help of Horford's late-game heroics, the Hawks are still just 12-12 on the season. That actually ties them with Romo's Cowboys, who fell to 7-7 with the loss to the Packers. Maybe Dallas's official Twitter account can prepare some trash-talking tweets just in case Atlanta slips below .500 this week.

NBA teams seem to be taking the Twitter snark to a whole new level this season. Earlier this month, the Blazers' official account mocked the imbalance between the NBA's conferences, rhetorically asking if it was too late for Portland to switch to the weaker East.
