Raptors guard Terrence Ross dunked all over Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried during a Friday night game at the Pepsi Center.
With just seconds remaining before the half and the Raptors leading 58-53, Ross picked up the ball in the backcourt after Faried threw away a pass. Taking off in transition, the 6-foot-6 Ross found the 6-foot-8 Faried as the only thing standing between him and the basket. Plugging forward without hesitation, Ross picked up his dribble near the foul line and two long steps before dunking directly over the top of Faried, who challenged with both hands.
Ross finished the play with a one-handed hammer dunk after cocking the ball back behind his head to avoid Faried. The combination of power, technique and grace brought Toronto's bench to its feet and drew oohs and aahs from the Denver crowd.
The two players do share a little dunking history, as Ross beat out Faried and four other competitors to win the 2013 Slam Dunk Contest in Houston. Perhaps this was a little warm-up act for a Slam Dunk Contest title defense in New Orleans next month?
Ross's high-flying dunk puts the finishing touches on an exciting January. He scored a career-high 51 points against the Clippers earlier this month.
