The NBA announced Monday that Sixers forward Arnett Moultrie has been suspended for five games without pay for violating the league's anti-drug program.

Moultrie's suspension will begin on Monday when the Sixers face the Hawks. He will regain his eligibility following an April 9 game against the Raptors.

Although the league did not specify how Moultrie violated the program, a third failed marijuana test would trigger an automatic five-game suspension. A player who tests positive for performance-enhancing drugs receives a 20-game suspension for his first violation.

The 23-year-old Moultrie has appeared in just 12 games for the Sixers this season, most recently taking the court on Mar. 12. The 6-foot-11, 249-pound forward has also logged time in the D-League for the Delaware 87ers, the Sixers' affiliate, and the terms of his suspension prevent him from playing for the 87ers until after the five-game suspension period is complete.

The 2012 first-round pick has averaged three points and 2.9 rebounds per game for the Sixers this season and has posted averages of 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds for the 87ers. Philadelphia picked up his team option for the 2014-15 season last fall.

Knicks guard J.R. Smith and then-Blazers guard Terrel Harris have also been issued five games suspensions for anti-drug program violations since last August.

Philadelphia (16-57) snapped an NBA record-tying 26-game losing streak with a blowout victory over Detroit on Saturday.
