San Antonio, Indiana hold top seeds as 2014 NBA playoffs field is set

The 16-team field for the 2014 NBA playoffs was officially set on Monday night, when the Grizzlies defeated the Suns 97-91 in Phoenix to claim the final postseason bearth.

Although a number of seeds are still up for grabs and most of the final match-ups are not yet known, the following teams will compete for the 2014 title.

East: Indiana, Miami, Toronto, Chicago, Brooklyn, Washington, Charlotte and Atlanta

West: San Antonio, Oklahoma City, L.A. Clippers, Houston, Portland, Golden State, Dallas and Memphis

The Spurs and Pacers have locked up the No. 1 seeds in the West and East, respectively. San Antonio (62-19) has clinched the top overall record and will enjoy homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs.

Indiana secured the East's top seed when Miami suffered a 114-93 road loss to Washington on Monday.

If the postseason began today, the match-ups would line up as follows. Note: clinched seeds appear in bold.

East

No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 8 Atlanta

No. 2 Miami vs. No. 7 Charlotte

No. 3 Toronto vs. No. 6 Washington

No. 4 Chicago vs. No. 5 Brooklyn

West

No. 1 San Antonio vs. No. 8 Memphis

No. 2 Oklahoma City vs. No. 7 Dallas

No. 3 L.A. Clippers vs. No. 6 Golden State

No. 4 Houston vs. No. 5 Portland

The 14 teams on the outside of the playoffs looking in are as follows...

East: Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Orlando, Boston, Detroit, Cleveland, and New York

West: Utah, L.A. Lakers, Sacramento, New Orleans, Denver, Minnesota, and Phoenix

The 2013-14 regular seasons ends on Wednesday. The 2014 playoffs begin this weekend.
