NBA suspends Wizards' Nene for Game 4 after altercation with Bulls' Jimmy Butler

The NBA has suspended Wizards forward Nene for Game 4 of a first-round playoff series with the Bulls for his involvement in an altercation with Jimmy Butler during Game 3 on Friday.

With a little more than eight minutes remaining and the Bulls leading 78-76, Nene collided with Butler after finishing a basket in transition. Butler pushed Nene on the side, and the two players went head-to-head, exchanging words as they stared each other down. Nene then grabbed Butler's head with his right hand, and later with both hands, before pulling Butler's head towards his own.  Finally, the two players were separated before things could go any further.

The league officially ruled that Nene "head-butted and grabbed Butler around the neck with both hands and attempted to throw him down."

Nene was assessed two technical fouls, leading to an automatic ejection. Hedeparted with 10 points (on 5-for-15 shooting), four rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes after previously playing an instrumental role in Washington's victories in Games 1 and 2 in Chicago. Butler received a technical foul for his role in the incident.

Bulls center Joakim Noah would joke that "roid rage" caused the incident after Chicago scored a 100-97 victory.

Washington (No. 5) now holds a 2-1 series lead over Chicago (No. 5). Game 4 is set for Sunday at the Verizon Center.
