After months of conflicting reports, Croatian forward Dario Saric declared for the NBA draft on Saturday.
Saric's agent Misko Raznatovic made the announcement in a Twitter message: "Dario Saric, officially, declared himself for draft 2014."
Saric, 20, averaged 16.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 32.6 minutes per game for Croatian club Cibona. He earned Adriatic League MVP and Finals MVP honors as Cibona won the league championship.
A skilled forward who can handle the ball, Saric has played for Croatia's junior national teams in a number of tournaments, and he participated in the 2012 Nike Hoop Summit.
Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix has Saric going to the Pistons at No. 8 in his latest mock draft.
The Pistons, who are just beginning the search to replace president Joe Dumars, have a need at small forward. Enter Saric, a fast-developing point forward prospect. Saric leads the Adriatic League in scoring (16.3 points) and is second in rebounding (9.5).
Saric is listed at 6-foot-10 and 223 pounds. He currently ranks No. 9 on DraftExpress.com's Top 100
and No. 12 on Chad Ford's Top 100
