Bankers Life Fieldhouse was not a happy place as the Pacers fell to the Hawks 107-97 in Game 5 on Monday.
The Indiana home crowd booed on multiple occasions during the first half, but Paul George appeared to get it worse than anybody following a turnover late in the second quarter.
George was called for traveling as he drove into the key with less than a minute to play before the break, and an anonymous heckler could be heard on the NBA TV broadcast laying into the two-time All-Star forward.
"Hey George, why don't you start playing some basketball and stop traveling? I guess you're ready to go home in the first round," the heckler yelled. "You're ready to go home in the first round against Atlanta. You're supposed to be an All-Star. Start playing ball and stop traveling."
George finished with a game-high 26 points (on 9-for-16 shooting), 12 rebounds, six assists, six steals and three turnovers. George Hill, Lance Stephenson and David West each added 16 points in a losing effort.
Shelvin Mack led the Hawks with 20 points (on 5-for-9 shooting), five assists, and three rebounds. Paul Millsap added 18 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in the win.
Indiana entered the postseason as the East's No. 1 seed against a No. 8 Atlanta team that had the worst record among the 16 playoff teams. Atlanta now leads the series 3-2 with Game 6 set for Philips Arena on Thursday.
