San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown reportedly suffered a broken ankle during Saturday night's exhibition game and is expected to be sidelined at least eight weeks.

The injury means Brown will likely miss the first five weeks of the regular season, according to U-T San Diego.

Brown suffered the injury while making a touchdown catch during the second half of the Chargers' victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Brown had 19 receptions for 329 yards last season and was expected to expand his receiving role this season.

The injury was the second major setback during the preseason for the Chargers. Top running back Ryan Mathews sustained a broken collarbone in last week's game.
