Hernandez had been housed at a jail in Bristol County, Mass. since his arrest last summer. Prosecutors did not oppose Hernandez's request to be moved to a facility nearer to his legal team.

Hernandez is facing murder charges in two separate cases. He is accused of killing 27-year-old semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd on June 17, 2013 and dumping his body near his home. He is also charged with a two counts of murder relating to a July 2012 double homicide in South Boston that allegedly stemmed from an argument over a spilled drink.

Hernandez also faces several weapons charges in relation to the two cases, in addition to civil suits from the families of the victims. Hernandez entered not guilty pleas in both cases.

The trial date for the Lloyd case is tentatively set for October 6.
