New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said head coach Bill Belichick enjoys Thursday night games, NESN reports.
Kraft was speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour Thursday with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, CBS CEO Leslie Moonves and CBS Sports' Sean McManus to promote CBS's acquisition of the Thursday night broadcasts. He said the Patriots enjoyed the added attention and rest that comes from playing on Thursday nights. From NESN:
Kraft said Pats head coach Bill Belichick “likes the Thursday night games and would be happy to have more than one in a season.” He added a very New England-like sentiment, arguing that Thursday games reward better-prepared teams while allowing for a longer break afterward.
CBS acquired the rights to Thursday Night Football in February. Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III said players are worried about how the shortened week impacts the health of players.
