Report: Chiefs, running back Jamaal Charles discuss new deal

The Kansas City Chiefs and All-Pro running back Jamaal Charles have had discussions regarding a new contract, reports Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

According to the report, the team believes that Charles will report to training camp on Wednesday, even though there were reports stating that Charles will hold out in his efforts to secure a new long-term deal. 

He is scheduled to make $3.9 million this season, and $6 million next season, the last season of a five-year, $32.5 million deal he signed in 2010.

Charles, 27, rushed for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns and caught 70 passes for 693 yards and another seven scores last season, earning first-team All-Pro honors.
