Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: Jason Garrett not coaching for job
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that head coach Jason Garrett is not coaching for his job this season, despite three straight 8-8 seasons.
The Cowboys haven’t been to the playoffs since 2009.
Garrett is in the final year of his contract and has compiled a 29-27 record in three-plus seasons in Dallas.
"Did the record of 8-8, 8-8, 8-8 ... was that the factor? No," Jones said, via the Associated Press. "In my mind he is more of an asset after this last 8-8 season than he was before the first 8-8 season we had three years ago."

Garrett said he expects quarterback Tony Romo to be ready for training camp. He also expects the conditioning test, which has led to injuries the past two seasons, to be scrapped.
The defense, which was the NFL’s worst last season, lost defensive end DeMarcus Ware when he signed with Denver and linebacker Sean Lee to a season-ending knee injury.
