Cowboys place Ronald Leary, Anthony Spencer on PUP list

The Dallas Cowboys have placed guard Ronald Leary and defensive end Anthony Spencer on the PUP list. Leary shouldn't be out long, while Spencer's absence could stretch into the regular season.

The Dallas Cowboys have placed guard Ronald Leary and defensive end Anthony Spencer on the physically unable to perform list, the team announced Thursday

Leary injured his hamstring during a conditioning workout last week. According to the team's website, Leary "will be held back for a few practices."

Spencer's status is more uncertain. The 30-year-old is still recovering from undergoing microfracture knee surgery last September and could remain on the PUP list into the regular season. If so, he would be required to miss the team's first six games.

Leary pleaded no-contest to a drunk driving charge earlier this month. He will not serve jail time.
