Chicago Bears tight end Martellus Bennett hasn't been with the team since Monday, when he was fined an undisclosed amount and suspended indefinitely. However, Tuesday Bennett spoke with head coach Marc Trestman on the phone, a conversation that Trestman described as "very positive," according to a report from ESPNChicago.com.
Trestman added that Bennett has not been ruled out for Friday's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I did [speak with Bennett]," Trestman told ESPNChicago. "It was a very positive conversation. We touched base with each other, and I'll just leave it at that. We did what we said we were gonna do, and that was talk yesterday."

The fine and suspension came after a Monday incident in which Bennett slammed first-round rookie Kyle Fuller to the ground following a play.
Bennett had a career year last season, his first in Chicago. He caught 65 passes for 759 yards and five TDs, all career highs.
