The Philadelphia Eagles have discussed returning to a kelly green uniform color, team president Don Smolenski told local radio station 94WIP.

The holdup, according to Smolenski, involves NFL rules.

"We have talked about it and there are some rules with the NFL that provides some restrictions that we’re trying to work through, but that’s going to take some time,” Smolenski told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show. “It’s there, and it’s something that we do talk about, but until some things change at the NFL level it’s going to provide restrictions for us. It is being talked about it, yes.”

Philadelphia wore the lighter green color for most of its modern history before switching to a darker green and black look in 1996. The team has occasionally worn kelly green in recent years as a throwback uniform.
