The Cincinnati Bengals have waived wide receivers Conner Vernon and Jeremy Johnson as well as defensive tackle Zach Minter, the team announced Friday.

Vernon scored a touchdown from quarterback Matt Scott in the Bengals' 41-39 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs

According to the team, Cincinnati might add a quarterback to the roster. Backup quarterback Jason Campbell threw two interceptions for touchdowns on Thursday.

From Bengals.com:

Although rookie A.J. McCarron is throwing steadily on the side as he rehabs shoulder tightness, the Bengals don’t appear to be close to activating him. After he rested his shoulder in OTAs, he apparently came back too soon and it looks like the Bengals are shelving him indefinitely to make sure he doesn’t have another relapse.

The Bengals currently have 86 players on their roster, which is four under the limit. Teams must reduce their roster to 75 players by 4 p.m. ET on Aug. 26. Four days later, the roster must be chopped down to 53 players.

The Bengals' next game is Aug. 16 against the New York Jets.
