The Pittsburgh Steelers are working on a contract extension with tackle Marcus GIlbert, reports Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Gilbert, a former second-round pick, started every game at right tackle last year for the Steelers. According to Football Outsiders' adjusted sack rate metric, the Steelers' offensive line ranked 22nd in the NFL last season and 27th in 2012. Pittsburgh allowed 43 sacks last year.

Gilbert is in the final year of his rookie contract. His base salary for 2014 is $815,103.
