Report: Saints QB Drew Brees, other vets likely out vs. Titans

Friday August 15th, 2014

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is not expected to play when the team plays the Tennessee Titans on Friday in their second preseason game, according to ESPN.com's Mike Triplett.

The Saints have made no announcement on Brees' status. He has not practiced in two weeks because of a strained left oblique, but was seen wearing full pads during the team’s practice on Tuesday.

Saints head coach Sean Payton said earlier in the week he had not decided if Brees would play in the game.

According to the report, a host of other Saints, including guard Jahri Evans, safety Jairus Byrd, cornerback Champ Bailey, linebacker David Hawthorne, and wide receiver Kenny Stills are not expected to suit up for the team, as each is battling different injuries.
