Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway has a sore right wrist, leading head coach Mike Zimmer to give him extra rest Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Zimmer said an MRI and X-ray showed no serious damage to Greenway, but the team wants to be cautious with the eighth-year pro.

Greenway sprained the same wrist and later broke it in two places last season, though he was able to play in all 16 games for the seventh straight season.

The linebacker, a two-time Pro Bowler, had 134 combined tackles in 2013 and added three sacks and three interceptions.
