NFL official says change to extra point might come by next season
NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said a change might be coming to the extra point rule by next season.
The NFL experimented this preseason with moving the ball back to the 15-yard line for extra point attempts.
Through two weeks of the preseason, eight PAT attempts have been missed. During the 2013 regular season, when the ball was placed at the 2-yard line, kickers converted on 99.6 percent of those attempts.

Snaps will be moved back to the 2-yard line for this week of preseason games and for the regular season.
"I don't know if it's the 15-yard line. I think we're going to gather all the information we can from this experiment. I know there were several other proposals, several other ideas," Blandino said to the Dan Patrick Show. "I'm sure some teams will propose some things but I do anticipate this play is going to change
The NFL’s competition committee will most likely look at the issue next year during the league’s annual meetings.
