Report: NFL will punish ex-Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent

The NFL will punish former Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

In December 2012, Brent was driving a car when he crashed, killing teammate Jerry Brown, who was in the passenger seat. He was convicted of intoxication manslaughter in January.

Brent retired prior to last season, but is currently seeking reinstatement. He met with commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this month. 

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team would create a spot on its roster for Brent in the event he is reinstated.

Brent, 26, played three seasons with the Cowboys. He started five games in 2012.
