Report: Bills to sign quarterback Jordan Palmer

The Buffalo Bills will sign quarterback Jordan Palmer, ESPN's Field Yates reports.

Palmer, 30, was cut by the Chicago Bears on Sunday after losing the backup quarterback job to Jimmy Clausen. Palmer completed 21 of 30 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown and one interception during three preseason games with the Bears this year. He had an 88.9 quarterback rating.

EJ Manuel is the returning starter for the Bills. He has completed 47 of 75 attempts for 461 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions during the preseason.

Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis are the other quarterbacks on the roster after the team released Dennis Dixon on Monday.

The Bills play their final preseason game Thursday against the Detroit Lions before opening the regular season Sept. 7 against the Bears.
