San Diego Chargers guard Jeromey Clary could miss the entire 2014 season after undergoing hip surgery about a week ago, the San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken reported Sunday.
The hip operation is the second procedure Clary has undergone in the past three months and third in the past six months. According to the paper, the most recent surgery has "cast doubt" on whether he'll play this season. Johnnie Troutman is expected to start in Clary's absence. The Chargers also drafted offensive lineman Chris Watt out of Notre Dame in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft.
If he doesn't play this season, the 30-year-old Clary could have already played his final game as a Charger. This season is the final one of his contract.
The Chargers open their season on Sept. 8 at 10:20 p.m. ET against the Arizona Cardinals.
