Tom Brady did not attend New England Patriots practice on Thursday, but he will still play in Sunday's opener, reports ESPN Boston.

Brady sat out with a calf injury, the team announced.

Brady was the only Patriots player who did not practice.

On Thursday morning, New England re-signed quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson to the practice squad. McLeod Bethel-Thompson joined Jimmy Garoppolo as the second quarterback at practice.

The Patriots open the 2014 season on Sunday in Miami.
