New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said he will play on Sunday after missing Thursday's practice, he told Westwood One's Jim Gray.

“Physically I had the day off, but I got a lot of extra film in,” Brady said. “I got a lot of extra mental reps in and walk-throughs and such and I’ll be ready to go Sunday.”

After trading Ryan Mallett to the Texans earlier this week, rookie Jimmy Garoppolo is the team's only other quarterback on the 53-man roster roster.

New England opens the season on Sunday in Miami against the Dolphins.
