Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he and his teammates "beat ourselves" during Thursday night's loss to the Baltimore Ravens, according to Ron Cook of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Steelers had three turnovers and nine penalties for 75 yards in their 26-6 loss.

BANKS: Ravens show resilience in big win

Roethlisberger completed 22 of 37 passes for 217 yards and threw an interception. Pittsburgh's only points came on a pair of Shaun Suisham field goals.

“It was one thing here and one thing there,” Roethlisberger said. “I don’t know if we can point to any one thing right now. They’re a good defense. Don’t get me wrong. But we beat ourselves.”

Wide receiver Justin Brown lost a fumble deep in Baltimore territory in the first quarter, and tight end Heath Miller lost a fumble during the fourth quarter.

Head coach Mike Tomlin agreed with Roethlisberger's assessment.

“We turned the ball over and we were highly penalized,” coach Mike Tomlin said. “That’s why we lost the football game.”

The loss drops the Steelers to 1-1. They play at the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.
