EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) New York Giants cornerback Walter Thurmond is going to miss the remainder of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.

The Giants announced Monday that the former Seattle Seahawk will have surgery Tuesday. He was hurt in Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Thurmond signed with the Giants as a free agent and has had most of his playing time as the nickel back in passing situations. Trumaine McBride replaced him against Arizona.

Coach Tom Coughlin had no update on the toe injury sustained by middle linebacker Jon Beason. The veteran missed all of training came after breaking a bone in his right foot. The toe injury is on the same foot.

Receiver Jerrel Jernigan was being evaluated for a mid-foot sprain Monday, Coughlin said.
