Ex-Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez: 'I felt helpless' when questioned by police

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez said in a court document that he "felt helpless" when he was being questioned by the police about the murder of Odin L. Lloyd.

In June 2013, Hernandez was charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of Lloyd. He was also given multiple gun-related charges. Hernandez pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and was denied bail.

“I felt helpless in the face of the occupation of my house by the police,” he said in a newly released court document. “I was also very concerned about what would happen to my fiance and our baby if I refused to answer their questions. I did not feel free to leave at any time during the search.”

In February, Hernandez allegedly attacked an inmate at the Bristol County Jail in Massachusetts. In May, Hernandez was charged in the murders of Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, who were shot outside a Boston nightclub on July 16, 2012.

The Boston Globe reports that Hernandez’s sworn statement was filed in support of motions to suppress evidence.
