NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is holding a press conference at 3 p.m. ET on Friday to talk about the league’s recent domestic violence issues. He has not spoken about the issue for more than a week.

Goodell and the NFL have received criticism for the league's handling of the domestic violence cases and a child abuse case, and Goodell has been urged to speak on the topic.

The cases have involved former Ravens running back Ray Rice, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy, Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer and 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald.

Goodell was criticized for his initial two-game suspension of Rice, which turned into an indefinite suspension following video being released last week showing Rice punching his then-fiancée Janay Palmer in an Atlantic City casino elevator.

Earlier Friday, Goodell announced that all NFL personnel will have educational sessions on domestic violence and sexual assault within the next 30 days.
