The Baltimore Ravens have promoted tight end Phillip Supernaw to the active roster and signed tight end Emmanuel Ogbuehi to the practice squad, reports the Baltimore Sun

The Sun had previously reported that Ogbuehi, Jake Murphy, Kellen Davis and Matt Mulligan were working out with the Ravens on Tuesday.

The news comes after starting tight end Dennis Pitta underwent season-ending hip surgery on Monday. He dislocated his right hip for the second time in a year in Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

Supernaw has spent time with both the Texans' and Ravens' practice squads. He signed with Baltimore in May and played collegiately for Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

Ogbuehi joined the league in 2013 and spent the final four weeks of last season on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad.

Owen Daniels is taking over as Baltimore's starter at tight end, with H-back Kyle Juszczyk also in line for more playing time.
