New York Giants middle linebacker Jon Beason is doubtful for Thursday night's game against the Washington Redskins, according to the Giants' Wednesday injury report.

If Beason can't play, New York would likely move outside linebacker Jameel McClain to the middle and have Mark Herzlich and Spencer Paysinger split time at McClain's outside spot, as the team did last week against the Houston Texans.

Beason was inactive against the Texans after re-aggravating a foot injury in New York's Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals. The linebacker missed all of training camp after he tore a ligament and fractured the sesamoid bone in his foot in a June OTA but returned to start both of the team's first two games.

Beason, who has eight tackles this season, practiced Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to hope he could play Thursday night.

McClain, Paysinger and Herzlich combined for 17 tackles and half a sack against Houston.
