Packers confident Clay Matthews (groin) will play against Bears

The Green Bay Packers are confident linebacker Clay Matthews will play Sunday against the Chicago Bears, the team announced Friday.

Matthews, 28, has been limited during practice after injuring his groin during the fourth quarter of last week's loss to the Detroit Lions. With the game out of reach, he did not play after the injury. The Packers have listed Matthews as probable to play Sunday.

In three games this season, Matthews has 12 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. He missed five games last season with a broken thumb and did not make the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career.

The Packers are 1-2 and play the Bears in Chicago on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
