The New York Jets have placed left guard Brian Winters on injured reserve with a torn ACL and claimed Wesley Johnson off waivers from the Steelers, the team announced Monday.

Winters injured his left knee during the third quarter of the Jets’ 31-17 loss to the Denver Broncos and was replaced by Oday Aboushi, a fifth-round pick by the Jets in 2013. Aboushi is likely to replace Winters for the remainder of the season, according to Jane McManus of ESPNNewYork.com.

The Jets drafted Winters in the third round in 2013. He played 12 games last season, allowing a league-high 10 sacks among guards. He was ranked 77th out of 81 guards in the league by Pro Football Focus.

Johnson was a fifth-round pick out of Vanderbilt, where he primarily played left tackle.

Winters was the second Jets player to suffer a season-ending injury during Sunday’s game after Dee Milliner tore his Achilles early in the first quarter.

The Jets are fourth in the AFC East with a record of 1-5. They face the New England Patriots (4-2) on Sunday.
