The Chicago Bears (3-3) ruled out linebacker Lance Briggs and defensive back Chris Conte for the team's Week 7 game against the Miami Dolphins, the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs tweeted Friday.

This will be the second weekend in a row Briggs sits out with an unspecified rib injury. Bears coach Marc Trestman declined to discuss the specifics of the injury, ESPN reported. "When you're making contact on every play, ribs are not the place you want to have soreness. I'll leave it at that. I'm not keeping anything from anybody," Trestman said.

Conte, meanwhile, will use the time off to rest an injured shoulder Sunday. The Cal product has battled shoulder injuries as well as concussion symptoms this season. He had shoulder surgery in the offseason.

Conte "ran hard" in practice this week, but Bears trainers have not fully released his restrictions, Trestman said.

Further complicating matters could be linebacker Jon Bostic'sstatus for the game, which is questionable, according to Biggs. Bostic's back is strained.

Conte has started every Bears game so far this year, and has posted two interceptions and 13 tackles. The 33-year-old Briggs has 15 tackles and one pick over five games this year.
