Report: Dates set for Ray Rice appeal hearing
Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice will challenge his indefinite suspension at an appeal hearing on Nov. 5 and 6, according to NBC News.
Rice's appeal will be heard by Judge Barbara Jones, a former U.S. district judge. Jones is expected to decide some time this week whether commissioner Roger Goodell will testify at the hearing, NBC reports.
If Rice's appeal is successful, he could theoretically return to the NFL this season. CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora says several legal experts have told him "Rice has an exceedingly strong case."
Goodell suspended Rice indefinitely on Sept. 8, after TMZ released a video of him punching his then-fiancée. Goodell had previously suspended Rice for two games after his arrest on domestic violence charges and the release of another video showing him dragging his seemingly-unconscious fiancée from a casino elevator.

Rice was charged with third-degree aggravated assault in March. He pleaded not guilty and avoided trial by entering a pre-trial intervention program for first-time offenders.
