Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre said he thinks St. Louis Rams quarterback Austin Davis could be compared to Tom Brady or Kurt Warner in the future, according to ESPN's Ed Werder

Davis has started five games for the Rams this season, throwing for 1,517 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions and completing 66 percent of his passes. St. Louis lost expected starting quarterback Sam Bradford in preseason after he tore his ACL.

"Not to sound off my rocker, but he can be the next Tom Brady or Kurt Warner," Favre said of Davis.

Like Davis, Brady and Warner stepped into the starting quarterback job due to an injury. Davis and Warner both went undrafted out of college, while Brady was chosen in the sixth round. Brady has gone on to win three Super Bowls and Warner was named league MVP twice.

Favre and Davis both attended the University of Southern Mississippi. Davis played four years there, throwing for 10,892 yards, 83 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
