Lions GM says team has no intention of trading DT Ndamukong Suh
Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said at a press conference Thursday that he has no intention of trading defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
Mayhew also said he didn't expect to be active in general at the trade deadline, which is Oct. 28.
Suh is technically signed through next season but is expected to void the last year of his deal by not exercising his player option for 2015. It was reported late last month that Suh won't re-sign with the Lions and that the team is preparing to move on without him.
The two sides had negotiated a long-term extension in the offseason, and head coach Jim Caldwell said in July he was optimistic the team would re-sign Suh. But shortly thereafter contract talks were tabled until the end of the season.

Suh, 27, has a cap hit of $22.4 million this season. The Lions could use the franchise tag on him in the offseason but it would cost the team $26.7 million.
A fifth-year pro out of Nebraska, Suh was the 2010 Defensive Rookie of the Year and has made the Pro Bowl three times. He has 17 tackles and three sacks this season and has helped the Lions become the first-ranked defense in the NFL, allowing 290.3 total yards per game.
Detroit is 5-2 this season and tied for first place in the NFC North. The team is currently in London, where it plays the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
