New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said that he plans on being the team’s coach next season, despite speculation about his job status.

During his press conference on Thursday, Payton was asked about various reports that he might be leaving the team as early as the end of this season.

“Absolutely no way,” Payton said. “It’s silly. It won’t happen. You have to consider the source....for obvious reasons."

Payton, 51, has compiled a 78-47 record over eight seasons in New Orleans. He has led the Saints to four division titles and one Super Bowl title during his tenure with the team.

The Saints are 5-8, but they are still tied with the Atlanta Falcons for the lead in the NFC South. The Saints play the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
