Geno Smith sees himself as Jets quarterback 'for a long time'
Geno Smith sees himself remaining the Jets starting quarterback into the future despite the team's current struggles, according to ESPN.com.
The Jets are 3-12 entering Sunday's finale against the Miami Dolphins, and quarterback play is one major reason why New York has struggled this season. The Jets rank last in the NFL in passing offense and 27th in total offense.
Despite a lack of wins, Smith foresees himself as the Jets' future at quarterback, though he did acknowledge that he was partially to blame for the team's poor record.
"I see myself being the quarterback here for a long time," Smith said, according to ESPN. "I see myself helping this team turn things around. Obviously, I'm part of the reason why we're in this position, so I'd love to be part of the solution."

Smith began the year as the Jets' starter, but he was replaced by backup Michael Vick for several games in the middle of the season before he re-claimed his starting job. Smith has thrown for 2,167 yards and 10 touchdowns with 13 interceptions this season.
The second-year quarterback also said he believes the Jets have potential on their roster.
"I know that it takes hard work and not everyone is going to see the same things, but within this locker room, within this group of guys, we all see the potential we have as a team," he said, according to ESPN. "Obviously, that's not saying much with the record we have right now, but we believe we can turn things around."
The Jets are widely expected to make major changes this offseason. Earlier this week, with the futures of GM John Idzik and coach Rex Ryan already in doubt, it was reported that Jets owner Woody Johnson was planning to hire Charley Casserly as a consultant to help find new leadership for the team.
The Jets play at the Dolphins (8-7) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
