Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is facing a year-long ban from the NFL after testing positive for alcohol, according to Pro Football Talk. ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed the news.

The Browns released the following statement on Sunday:

Gordon was being tested as a result of being arrested for a DWI this past July. He tested positive for marijuana last May and was forced to sit out the first 10 games of the season.

His failed test for alcohol did not come during the season, according to Albert Breer of NFL Network. The Browns' season ended on Dec. 28 with a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Gordon caught 24 passes for 323 yards in five games during the 2014 season.

The embattled wide receiver was also suspended last month from the Browns after an unspecified violation of team rules, although it was reported Gordon and quarterback Johnny Manziel did not show up for a team walk through.

The news Sunday does not necessarily mean Gordon has played his last game in Cleveland. Because of the one-year suspension, Gordon's current contract will now run through 2016, Ian Rapoport reported. It is unclear whether Cleveland plans to cut Gordon before then, or not.
