The Washington Redskins and Perry Fewell have completed a deal to make him their new defensive backs coach, reports Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

Fewell was fired earlier this month after five seasons as the New York Giants' defensive coordinator.

The 52-year-old interviewed with the San Francisco 49ers last week to be their defensive backs coach, and Maiocco reports that San Francisco also wanted Fewell.

The Giants ranked No. 22 in scoring defense and No. 29 in yards allowed last season under Fewell. He was the defensive coordinator during the team's victory in Super Bowl XLVI.
