Seahawks' Chris Matthews makes first NFL catch in Super Bowl XLIX
Monday February 2nd, 2015

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Chris Matthews has caught four passes for a game-high 109 yards and a touchdown so far against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX. Prior to Sunday's game, he had recorded zero receptions.

Here are some details about Matthews' background:

• He played at Kentucky from 2009-10 before signing a contract with the Cleveland Browns, but the team cut him during training camp in 2011.

• Matthews then spent time away from football and played two seasons for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

In the offseason, Matthews worked at Foot Locker and as a security guard.

• The Seahawks have released and re-signed Matthews three times this season. He was promoted to the team's active roster about a month ago.

• Matthews recovered an onside kick late in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers.
