Adidas announced on Feb. 5 that it would would give the three fastest players who sign with the company and run an official 40-yard dash a Porsche 911 with a cheetah painted on the side.

But on Friday, Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee reported that the three fastest Adidas players instead would receive $100,000 cash.

Brandin Cooks, the former Oregon State wide receiver who was drafted by the New Orleans Saints, won a $100,000 prize from Adidas for posting the fastest 40 time (4.33) in the company’s footwear.

Darren Rovell of ESPN reported the car promotion had to be scrapped because it would conflict with the NFL’s deal with General Motors.

According to Rovell, several heralded prospects have signed deals with Adidas, including UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley, Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah, Kansas State wide receiver Tyler Lockett, former Missouri receiver Dorial Green-Beckham and Indiana running back Tevin Coleman.
