The Arizona Cardinals have released wide receiver and kick returner Ted Ginn, the team announced Monday.

Ginn signed a three-year, $9.75 free-agent deal with the Cardinals before last season and was owed a non-guaranteed $3.25 million for 2015. The Cardinals will absorb $1.5 million in dead salary cap money, but save $2.5 million in cap space.

Ginn, 29, caught 14 passes for 190 yards in 16 games. The eight-year veteran also returned 22 kickoffs for 417 yards, as well as 26 punts for 277 yards and a touchdown.

After agreeing to a new contract with Larry Fitzgerald earlier this month, the Cardinals have a crowded receiver group with him, Michael Floyd and Jaron Brown.

Ginn was the ninth overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft by the Maimi Dolphins. He spent three seasons with Miami before he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in April 2010.
