Seattle Seahawks All-Pro safety Earl Thomas is expected to be out between six and eight months after having surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn labrum and separation in his left shoulder, reports ESPN.com’s Ed Werder.

Thomas was originally injured during the NFC championship game overtime victory over the Green Bay Packers, but is expected to be ready for the start of the season.

Thomas played two weeks later in Seattle’s 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.

Three of the four defensive backs that started in the Super Bowl for Seattle played with injuries. Strong safety Kam Chancellor played with a torn MCL, while cornerback Richard Sherman had an elbow injury. Thomas, Chancellor and Sherman played all 74 defensive snaps during the Super Bowl.

Thomas, 25, was named first-team All-Pro for the third straight season after recording 97 tackles, one interception and three forced fumbles in 2014 for the league's top-ranked defense.
